we were already behind
October 4th, 2008 at 06:20 pm by wRitErsbLock in UncategorizedWe were already behind on paying some bills. As such, this week has had the beginning of phone calls from creditors harassing us for money. I have been in the mood to answer them, since I am full of bile based on my recent lost of job. I wish, when applying for, oh, say that big box hardware store line of credit, that I had known we were really applying for international credit cards. Every time I answer and it’s a call regarding either his big box hardware store card or mine, the callers are always in India.
My school loan started calling today.
My pest control service called me on Thursday. They wanted to set up my next service. I apologized because I already owe them for one and a half services. I cancelled my service and said I would do my best to get them paid once I find my fabulous new job.
Again, I realize it’s hard for you to understand why we were already behind, since I deleted the explanation post I wrote back on September 17th. But, the reason we were behind was a good one. If not for that, we would have been all caught up and would not be so stressed out for a few more weeks. Oh well. Such is life.
I emailed my former boss to find out if she mailed my final paycheck to me. She has not replied. I wonder who did payroll, you know, since I wasn’t there to do it? I dreamed about it last night. Miserable dream.
We’re going to find out if we can cancel the home phone but keep the internet. The only people who call the house anyway are debt collectors, and I’m always happy to not see their various names on the caller ID. We’re also going to find out if there is a lesser plan for the satellite tv. Sherlock and I are all in favor of canceling it altogether, but MIL would freak out if she had no tv. Or, more accurately, her bratty granddaughter would have convulsions if she couldn’t watch tv. Maybe Tony could get her a converter box for her bedroom, since he works at a big box electronic store. Then she could have her tv and we could cancel the satellite.
We’re preparing for the worst. Of course, in reality, I’ll have my fabulous new job in no time at all!

Your 2¢
wRitErsbLock,
This may come as little consolation to you, but, you WILL find a great job. I know things are stressfull. I have been there many times. I hated trying to decide which bill to pay since most were already late. I was also tired of feeling guilty for spending ten bucks on a book. You and Sherlock have each other, and while love won’t pay the bills………at least you guys are committed to finding a solution. I won’t pretend I know you personally, but your blog is so well written and you have great determination. Keep your chin up, take what help your friends offer and before long you will be working at a job you love.
Keeping positive thoughts in your direction,
Cissy
By law your former employer is obligated to hand you your check the day they walk you out the door. I’d call your state employment services. Can you file for UE? Hugs being let go sucks. Catch me up, what happened? Email me?
