Scribblings and bibblings; bibblings and scribblings.

As I ran, I was mentally blogging. Hey, I have to think about something other than how much I hate running in the Florida heat! So, I predetermined the title of this post would be “Wanted: self-esteem & self-confidence” and decided it would be another mundane post about my run.

I was going to talk about how much slower my pace is now that my iPod is calibrated to almost-correct mileage. I was going to lament my inability to keep my walking pace under a seventeen minute mile, let alone under the sixteen minute mile pace required to participate in the Disney Marathon in January.

I was going to lament how much farther a mile is now that it’s calibrated almost-correctly (I know where .1 mile is from my driveway, and it waits until approximately .15 to note that it’s at .1, so now my mileage is off the other way, and I’m mostly ok with that).

I was going to post links to my recent runs, since I finally connected the iPod back up to the computer to download that information.

And… as I sat here at this computer and connected my iPod up, something amazing happened. My Nike+ home page came up with new message for me: “100 Miles Stronger! You averaged 3.17 miles per run. Nice work! Welcome to the big time. This 100-mile seal is all yours… and it’s an achievement you should flaunt, so show it off.” It gives me the option of printing off a certificate, which I just might connect up the printer and do, and put that with the medal I earned at my first 15K two Saturdays ago. It encourages me to brag to my friends.

And so, even though my mileage was off, there were a couple runs I completed sans iPod, so the mileage is about right in the end. And, I found much-needed self-esteem in an unlikely place: on the cold, unfeeling interwebs.

Now then, about today’s run. I was aiming for five miles, and I missed it by that much.
Distance: 4.99 mi
Duration: 1:20′33″
Pace: 16′07″/mi

I don’t think yesterday’s run should count at all.

And here’s my off-on-miles 15K per my iPod, which does not agree with my smartchip results. My iPod thought I ran 11.33 when I only ran 9.3.

Ooh! Nike+ has added a new feature! Let me try it out:
