Deciding What is Really Important
April 11th, 2007 at 08:52 am by in UncategorizedSo the television was on as usual this morning and the today show was on. I asked wRitErsbLock not to change because they were going to talk about the Duke (non)rape case. They talked about the fact that the case against the players may be dropped, they spent at most 30 seconds of time on the report. Then they started talking about Imus and the dumas comments he made. Just before we left for work we shut the TV off…They were STILL talking about Imus.
Foul Language below
What the fuck? Who really gives a shit what some stupid ass radio host says? I’m sorry but I think a story about a prosecutor framing three students for rape to win an election is much more newsworthy they some girls being insulted by an idiot! Yet if you watched the story they ran on the (non)rape case you would just think that they may be guilty but the prosecutor didn’t have the evidence or that for some reason they couldn’t prove the case. They mentioned that the prosecutor was facing charges, but not that they were because of the (non)rape case. No mention was made of the fact that one of the students could prove he was elsewhere when the ‘rape’ happened. No mention that the photo lineup was no where near legal, no mention that the ‘victims’ story changed 11 times over the last year, no mention that none of the kids matched any of the descriptions she gave, no mention of the DNA evidence not matching ANY of the team members that attended the party, no mention of semen from several other men found on the ‘victim’.
But we learned that a girls feelings were hurt because some dumb ass old white guy on the radio called her team names. BOO FUCKING HOO!
If you want to read more on the Duke case, Durham in Wonderland has been covering it from the start. You might think that this case doesn’t effect you, think again. These were somewhat well-to-do kids that could hire lawyers to bring the true facts to light. Would you be able to afford a good enough lawyer if you were falsely accused?

Sherlock, that’s the most succinct way of putting things in perspective I’ve read.
but what irked me the most: that thirty seconds of the Duke case, AND the fifteen Minutes of Imus overshadowed news of Anna Nicole. Come on! Clearly the Anna Nicole stuff is far more important than anything else.
Seriously, though, the MSM should spend more time on real news and less on fluff. Leave the fluff to bloggers like me!
About Imus: I don’t give a rats ass if someone had their feelings hurt over words. Whatever happened to “sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me?”
They had the coach on the news (for fifteen minutes) and she was saying how at first (like for a full day) she didn’t think anything of Imus’ “nappy headed ho” comment. It wasn’t until coach realized they could profit from Imus’s foot-in-mouth that they decided to make a stink.
I was listening to the “Mike and Mike” on ESPN radio this morning as they discussed the case. One of the Mikes refered to the threee victims as being “perhaps innocent.” If people who talk about ona national raadio show qualify your innocence with the adjective “perhaps,” your reputation has been horribly damaged.
Imus’ remarks were dumb. Well, what do you expect? Imus is dumb. But how, exactly, were these young women damged by the fact that guy known to be dumb said something dumb about them? I mean, does anybody think that they are “perhaps ‘hos? I dont think so.
He may be dumb, (I think not), and he may be old and white, (so what), but now with all the “PC” flying about, I will only have C-Span to watch in the mornings as I get my heart started. Too bad black people and their self appointed race-baters have such thin skins and must be handled like infants. I’m thinking they will now go for his wallet. Too bad for us all.
Isn’t interesting how the media ignores how the “Reverend” Sharpton and Jackson were so intent on getting these innocent men convicted! These two race baiters are dispicable and are bigger racists than any Klansman ever was! Imus is not a racist….he is just a fool!
Did anyone watch Glenn Beck tonight. He spoke about these exact details. I was cheering. I am sure he will receive tons of hate mail in the morning.
Imus said a dumb thing. Over the years he has said many dumb things, and many much more malign than the ho comments. I do not think he was trying to be rascist, just funny. He was trying to be Dave Chapelle, but it came out like George Wallace. Well his career will be diminished at the very least, and the sun will rise tomorrow. I know he deserves some punishment, but I feel ambivalent. The Ravens linebacker complicit in a murder got a suspension, and the case of Imus is career ending?? Is there something wrong with this picture?
[...] COMPARING THE DUKE NON-RAPE CASE with the Imus imbroglio. [...]
“Whatever happened to “sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me?””
I’ll tell you what happened: Political correctness has turned that idea on its side, so that now it’s more like “If you hurt me with words, I’ll break your bones with sticks and stones.” It’s totally ridiculous. (I discuss the subject more here.)
LIttle late but A-MEN
It’s so much fun to post on an old post.
This was the most badass ‘lanche ever.
Just don’t tell R I said so.
