I should have married a dentist
November 11th, 2007 at 10:22 pm by wRitErsbLock in UncategorizedWhen I moved to Florida in the summer of 1996, I came with a small discoloration on one of my molars. After I found a job, I visited a dentist in the strip mall I worked in. The small discoloration on my molar was actually an enormous cavity that had consumed one-third of my tooth. I remember lying in the dentist’s chair listening to the always appealing sound of the drill as he removed the infection. Then I sat there as he attempted to rebuild my tooth with an ugly silver-colored filling. For eleven years I have had an ugly tooth.
In recent months, my molar has become quite sensitive to temperature. I’m not just talking about hot or cold liquids and food, my tooth is sensitive to air conditioned air. And since it’s allergy season almost the entire year, I am frequently congested and unable to breathe through my nose. When that cold air hits my tooth I find myself frequently wincing.
I had actually called my current dentist’s office (he’s been my dentist since 1997 or 1998) several times trying to find out what percentage of my future root canal will be covered by my insurance. But since the pain was not unbearable, I did not call too often. I hate calling people. Well, with Halloween and the after-Halloween candy clearance sales, I did myself in. A little piece of my filling broke off (I blame a Snickers bar) at work the other day. I was immediately on the phone to my dentist. Unfortunately, with all the activity going on in my life, I cannot fit the dentist into my schedule until the first week of December.
But, wRitErsbLock, how will you endure that mouth pain until then? I am so glad you asked, and thank you for caring! My husband is frequently experiencing dental dilemmas, so we have Dentemp OS in our medicine cabinet.
For temporary dental repair you just can’t beat Dentemp. Obviously I am using it as a temporary filling replacement. You know I love to eat, so I’m pleased to be able to eat just thirty minutes after applying the Dentemp to my molar. It also eases pain; I appreciate that.
Here’s hoping it continues to work well until my dentist appointment on the first Tuesday of December. Hmmm… I guess I’ll have to refrain from chewing gum during school. (Don’t judge me, I chew a ton of gum at school to help me stay awake in class.)

In addition to getting your filling replaced, you should start taking vitamin A regularly. My exposed tooth nerves are really sensitive, but after switching to non-fluoride toothpaste (Tom’s — sensitive teeth toothpaste did nothing for me) and taking a vitamin A every day, my teeth are rarely sensitive. Unless I forget my vitamin A for several days, and then the pain comes crawling back.
Also you wouldn’t get any candy because he would take it and burn it all every day. You should of married a baseball player{David Ortiz}
