Last weekend, while in Tennessee, we played a lot of pool. One evening this week, I spoke to my younger brother, CAL. He was too busy to talk to me, though… he was playing pool. He handed the phone off to our dad.

Me: Pool?
Dad: Yeah, we’ve had a mini pool table for years. We got it when CAL was a baby, but we’ve had it put away until we just got back from Tennessee.

I was amused.

Last night, while sitting in bed looking at the Black Friday ads:

Me: I’m going to buy a pool table tomorrow.
sherlock: Riiight.
Me: I am.
sherlock: (clearly not believing me) Okay.

This morning, I went shopping after I dropped sherlock off at work. I was dismayed to discover I left a key coupon at home, so I did some shopping and came home. I unloaded my loot, retrieved my coupon, and headed back to the mall.

The two big guys who hefted the enormous box out to my car took a look at my Element and scoffed. They scoffed! “There’s no way this is going to fit into your car.” Oh ye of little faith. Do not underestimate the carrying capacity of my little Element. Sure, the box was too long and I had to drive with the back wide open, but it fit. After they loaded my vehicle, I called sherlock:

Me: Right, so, there is no way possible I will be able to unload the car, you’re going to have to take a lunch break.
sherlock: What’d you buy?
Me: A pool table.

It was a good buy. And I have the right to frivolously spend some of my blogging money.

Sherlock foolishly thinks it’s his pool table. I am pleased that he likes it. The flash from the camera makes the finish look browner than it is. It’s a very dark walnut finish that appears to be almost black. It is so pretty with the red felt. I’m so excited about my purchase!

Sherlock asked, “so, are you going to wrap it to put under the tree, or start using it today?” Heh. I replied, “happy belated anniversary to us!”
