Friends are angels…
December 1st, 2008 at 05:58 pm by wRitErsbLock in Some Fun Now!, Team In TrainingI received a beautiful card and gift in the mail just now. The card reads: “Friends are angels who lift us to our feet when our spirits have trouble remembering how to fly.”
The inside is hand written, and I hope I don’t upset the senders by posting this. It reads: “With love from your friends. Get yourself those new shoes! We’re all very proud of you for all your running accomplishments. Love CalTechGirl, Amanda, Claudia, Richmond, Pamibe, Helen, & Sarah.”
There’s a check. And I was looking longingly at my shoes at the sports store not an hour before getting home and finding this in my mail box. Tomorrow, I’ll be buying my new shoes. I’ll begin breaking them in this week, plenty of time to do so before my marathon in January.
Ladies, I cannot call you and thank each of you right now because I’ll cry. Truly, I am grateful. And humbled. Yet again.

fyi, i just got off the phone with b. he had his sixth (supposed to be last but they’re talking about maybe another one or two) chemo treatment yesterday. he was talking about what an amazing thing you’re doing and i told him that he inspired you. he said, “no, she’s my inspiration! people like her doing such great things to help people like me that they don’t even know…”
