when bloggers become IRL friends
July 11th, 2009 at 12:10 pm by wRitErsbLock in Some Fun Now!, Starved for Attention, Straight to the HipsIt’s been just over a year since we last saw Amanda and family. It had been something like seven months before that. We are, apparently, once a year friends. But that works for us. Not like we have a choice; Miami is only about 3.5 hours south of here, but that’s 3.5 hours plus $30 on the toll road, plus the cost of gas, and both our families are on tight budgets, so we don’t see much of each other. But I always look forward to seeing them. Those of you who know my non-talkative husband will be shocked to know that my husband and Amanda’s husband get along quite well, and E brings out the chatter box in my husband.
Anyway, they’re in town for a wedding, and made room in their schedule to visit with us. Yay!
The hotel they’re staying at is maybe seven miles from our house. We debated going out for breakfast, but in the end, decided it would be better to just con them into coming here, and having me cook for them. I made pancakes, scrambled eggs, and bacon. We also had juice and coffee (I really need to learn to make Amanda’s cafe con leche, because I have been craving it since I first had it in May 2008).
Apparently, Amanda never ever feeds her boys; I was amazed at how much those two little boys ate, and Brandon kept asking for more! I think Amanda was embarrassed! I was just pleased my food didn’t suck.

Pinelope held court and hissed at our guests. Our guests were properly frightened by her ferociousness.

As if you needed proof that Amanda and I are girls, when we scrolled through the pictures on the camera before they left…

the commentary went something like:
…how many chins do I have?…Gawd, look at my hair…Photoshop that if you post it so my gut doesn’t show…Ugh, my hair…
etc. Yup, we’re girls!
We’ll be doing a theme park with them tomorrow. Since it’s a park we have annual passes to, I’ll likely bring my camera and take pics. Generally, if I go to the park, I go camera-free so I don’t have to worry about storing it when we do rides.

Your 2¢
First of all, nothing wrong with the picture of the two of you, both of you look like just a couple of fine looking gals.
Second, isn’t it interesting how well your cooking can go over with someone else’s kids? My wife got raves for hers when she cooked for her family’s kids on our vacation.
so true, when any of our nieces/nephews come to visit, all they can talk about is my breakfast!
