Jason has been working on tea party related political events in Nashville. He excitedly im-ed me the other day to let me know he had been interviewed by Politico.com. Today, there’s a story in which my big bro is quoted (on page three), along with his business partner, Bill.

WOO HOO! WTG Jason and Bill!

You know, if any of us teabaggers had the audacity to say Obama won because he’s hot*, we would be accused of being not only sexist, but racist, because they would tie in being attracted to a man of color with racism**.

Likewise, if someone were to say Martha Coakley should win because she’s pretty, that would be instantly condemmed as sexist and demeaning to women.

It is, however, okay to say Scott Brown is succeeding in his campaign for the Kennedy people’s senate seat because he’s hot and because he posed in a woman’s magazine in 1982. That is neither sexist nor racist.

I’m glad that’s cleared up.

*which I have heard several women, and one gay male friend, say but personally cannot see it myself, as I find the big O completely un-effable, compounded by how unappealing it is to kiss a smoker. Now, Michael Jordan, on the other hand, is a beautiful man. Tiger Woods: not so much.

**Color me a racist: this white woman married a brown Colombian man

H/T Pamibe

Many of those pictures are from tea parties held at Lake Eola here in Orlando. So… I was there, too!

Thirty minutes until they start handing out wrist bands. Obviously I’m not there right now.

My neighbor, Military Man, sent me a message via Facebook around 830p letting me know he was already in line at Barnes & Noble for tomorrow night’s Sarah Palin book signing. He got in line at 7p, a full twenty-four and a half hours before the signing begins. I debated and debated about heading up there to wait in line with him; I have been experiencing a wonderful insomnia spell recently. In the end, after several phone conversations with Military Man, I headed up to purchase my book and hand it off to MM, who is waiting in line for a wrist band, until his wife gets there in the morning to take over standing in line, to get my book signed along with hers. I have very nice neighbors!

The line for wristbands starts here

The front of the line features professional impersonators: Elvis, GWB, and Sarah Palin. GWB and SP say they’ll get all gussied up in the morning.

Military Man is a little disappointed he’s not first in line. He said he has been at the plaza since 1p, keeping an eye on B&N waiting for the line, and the line started to form when he went to grab dinner.

It was a very festive atmosphere at the start of the line.

Fox News arrived at 1045, which is when I left. Here’s the corner of the building looking toward the front of the line.

The line had begun forming around the corner of the building.

I’ll check back with Military Man on my way to work in the morning.

UPDATED @ 614a: Fox news just reported the line count is around 270.

A new tombstone appeared in our yard today. Place your bets on how long before we’re carted away for re-education. Yes, I said the same thing last year with last year’s version of the tombstone. But this year, well, freedom isn’t so assured, is it?

there’s a debate going on in the comments on one of my liberal friends on FB. This just appeared, and made me snicker:
Those who want to implement socialism think it’s a great idea until it directly affects them. Case in point: a few weeks ago our waitress at a local coffee shop raved about the joys of socialism. We were quiet as she rambled on for a few minutes. At the end of our lunch my husband apologized for the measly size of the tip that we would be giving her. He further explained that the other half of her tip would be going to the other waitress who was standing behind the counter doing nothing for the last 15 minutes. Based on her facial expression, socialism didn’t seem like such a great option anymore.

(edited to remove names)

Well played!

We went to another tea party, because it’s important to attend these things. Maybe our elected officials will start paying attention to the silent-no-longer majority. The media has started noticing us!

As we approached the Lake Eola bandstand from across the park an hour before it was set to begin, there was all ready a huge crowd.

I went armed only with a video camera, that I promptly dropped and broke, so all pictures were taken by my wonderful husband, utilizing my Nikon D40.

I carried a sign that had this on the front:

And this on the back:

Thousands of people turned out for the tea party.

Some people carried signs, others made their point in a different way:

Veterans of our armed forces were called to the stage and applauded.

Verily, I cried when the color guard presented our flag. It’s so wonderful to hear thousands of people say the Pledge of Allegiance and sing our national anthem. If I had not broken the video camera, you’d hear it, too.

Oh, hey! That’s me!

Hulk Hogan was there and interviewed by WDBO about his site Guaranteed Lower Property Tax

Yes, I did shake his hand and get my picture with Hulk:

Immediately after sherlock took this picture, I said to Hulk, “Let’s do a spouse swap!” and took the camera from my husband.

We left shortly thereafter due to my back hurting (hey, I was on my feet for five hours this morning).

update: Welcome back Instapundit readers!
