When my niece and nephew were here a few weeks ago, they went to Jetty Park over there near Cocoa Beach. It was their first ocean experience. They were fearless!

Ellie kept crawling toward the waves, and was not scared at all when the water splashed her face. Although I don’t think it tasted good!

Who watches Top Gear on BBC America? I think it airs on Monday nights, which means I missed it this week. We tend to watch it after the initial air date anyway. The other day, we saw an episode in which Jeremy, Richard, and James are given the task of building their own RV, and are sent off on a road trip to go camping. Naturally, because they’re building their own creations, there were stops on the side of the road for rv repairs and such, but the funniest thing was that Jeremy’s creation was three stories tall, and wouldn’t fit under the roof at the petrol station, and barely cleared overpasses on the highway.

I can’t find clips of this right now on you tube. But I’ll keep searching, because it’s just too funny. Andy Garcia was the guest star on that episode, perhaps I should include his name in my search parameters. Hmmm… nope, but there’s this funny clip:

This show constantly has me cracking up. That recent episode where Jeremy was driving a three-wheeled vehicle that flipped over every time he attempted to navigate a turn! LOL! And then, their tame racing driver, the Stig gave it a go the following week on the race course and promptly flipped it.

Seriously, if you’re not watching this show, you should. It is super funny.

When we did Disney two Fridays ago, we found a place inside Epcot where we could get a lesson on how to ride a Segway. I don’t know about you, but this $5K toy is not in my budget, ever, but I have been wanting to ride one, so we were all keen to give it a go. I have to remember to upload some of my videos from that weekend to the internet.

My brother went first while my niece fell asleep in my arms (aw!).

My husband and I ended up riding at the same time, so the pictures of him are not great, and the pictures of me are not great either since apparently I’m the only one who can operate my camera properly.

My SIL abstained.

Confession time: who has ridden a Segway?

My older brother, SIL, and nephew and niece arrived around 445p today. Since then, I have very much enjoyed family time. So if you’re looking for eczema pictures, I’m sorry, but you’re in the wrong place. However, if you’re looking for pictures of my adorable niece and nephew, this is the place!

When my nephew heard we have a bunny, he packed all of their carrots to bring down. I’m pleased Peanut was willing to munch the carrot out of his hands.

My niece took her time warming up to me.

I set up RTY’s old tent for my nephew to sleep in. You can plainly see he hates it.

You can imagine there are plenty more pictures, but I don’t want to over load you with cute kids tonight. Tomorrow, we’re doing Disney.

Saw this on time-suck facebook, and had to try it out for myself.

My first result:

I write like
Raymond Chandler

I Write Like by Mémoires, Mac journal software. Analyze your writing!

My second, third, and fourth results:

I write like
Stephen King

I Write Like by Mémoires, Mac journal software. Analyze your writing!

I copied different blog posts into the test for each of those results. Sadly, I can’t find any of my short stories on my other website, and they are not on the thumbdrive that is in my purse to test my writing-writing, which is different than blogging-writing.

We went to Universal Studios Saturday night for the Pat Benetar / REO Speedwagon concert. Eleven years ago, shortly after we began not-dating, sherlock and I went to an REO concert out at UCF. I only vaguely remember it. And I’m fairly certain, at that time, I was pretty much unfamiliar with REO. Over the years, we have seen Pat Benetar in concert twice. We’re all about free concerts, so we braved the rain for this double-header.

a handful of pics below the fold. And I’ll get some videos uploaded, too. The pictures were taken by my husband utilizing his Pentex W80. Videos taken with my Nikon Coolpix S203.

with very little effort on my part, I have entered a photo contest. Why not?

Hey, if I won the hotel prize, eventually I’d find a way to get back to the Finger Lakes and show my husband where I consider myself to be from.

(It’s hard to call anyplace other than Orlando home, I moved so much. But I went to high school and learned to drive in the Finger Lakes region, so I consider that where I’m from.)

(Unapologetically American shirt from Ranger Up, as recommended by Pamibe.)

And, cropped, because I can…

this person sneaks a video camera into shows and records them, then posts them online without identifying them, I assume to keep from having his material yanked. But it makes it difficult to identify sometimes. So, I’m going to go ahead and make a directory for myself so I can come clicky when I have time to watch what I want to watch.

Broadway musicals:

In the Heights (which, truth be told, I have zero desire to see, based on the music I’ve heard) is video 11

Billy Elliott (which I also have no desire to see) is video 10

Sunset Blvd is video 9

Next To Normal is video 7 (I’ve never heard of this one before)

Young Frankenstein is video 5. Sweet!

Little Mermaid is video 4

I’m not a huge fan of the idea of turning Disney cartoon movies into plays.

NO CLUE! I’ll have to watch this and then research to figure out wth video 3 is.

Les Mis! is video 2

Rent is video 1

Ragtime

Phantom of the Opera

The Producers

Beauty and the Beast Blech. So not a fan.

Spring Awakening that I’ve already linked to here.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Xanadu

Shrek

Mary Poppins

The Pirate Queen another I’ve not heard of

I think that’s everything I want to link to.

I’ve not had much to do this week, and so I have re-watched season 2 and finally watched all of season 3 of The Guild on you tube. It is so much easier watching it on you tube than it was when it was only offered on whichever site it used to be limited to.

If you love Felicia Day, and you should, and if you’re a tiny bit geeky or nerdy or whatever, you might like The Guild.

Here’s a music video that features their avatars.

And also, if you heart Wil Wheaton, he joins in either the end of season 2 or at the very beginning of season 3.

In fifteen days, there is a 95% probability that I’ll finally get to meet my niece. My older brother is threatening planning to drive down for a weekend with the wife and kids.

I am so stinking excited!

I miss my nephew, obviously. And it has been so frustrating to know my niece exists and we’ve only met via video chat.

Speaking of Jason, he has recently started a cigar blog. Now, I’m not a smoker, and I know nothing about cigars, but apparently there is a ton of info about them. Jason writes about cigars the way I talk about wine. Who knew there was a flavour profile for cigars? I read each entry, and enjoy them. I’m not just telling you to shamelessly pimp him out. I truly think his cigar blog is an interesting read. And I’m looking forward to him bringing some of his favorites with him so I can try them with him while they’re in town.

I particularly hope he brings the Cain Maduro torpedo (654) of which he wrote yesterday. He said it’s like baking bread. I love bread.

I’m also intrigued by the Arturo Fuente Hemingway Classic, with its notes of currant and coffee. I imagine it would pair well with a beer I have recently come to really enjoy, the Sam Adams Black Lager.

It never occurred to me that the flavor of your cigar would be influenced by what you’re eating and drinking. Although, it makes sense, since people try to match the perfect libation with their dinner. And beer school taught me how something as simple as a square of chocolate could dramatically influence the taste of a beer.

Jason, let me know what you’re bringing for us to smoke, and I’ll try to find the right wines to pair with them. Combine your passion with my alcoholism!
