Meeting Mitt
August 15th, 2007 at 06:35 pm by wRitErsbLock in UncategorizedI am really glad we took the afternoon off from work to go hear Mitt Romney speak in Winter Park. The event was well attended (standing room only). Mitt was a great speaker, and I really liked what he had to say about immigration, prescription drugs, our troops, and welfare.

It was an Ask Mitt Anything event. Only, it turned out it was a Five of you may Ask Mitt anything. I had a great question all lined up, and sherlock was all set to video it. I was going to say, “Mr. Romney, my name is WB. I’m a blogger. I think one of the burning questions my faithful readers would like an answer to is Will you and Mrs. Romney consider coming to our Halloween party on October 27th?” Yes, that would have been a great question. Bummer about him only taking five questions.

I was the first person to approach and ask to have a picture taken with the governor. Because I’m obnoxious like that. He was very gracious and took time to say hello to the throng, taking pictures and providing autographs.

It took several more minutes for sherlock to get his chance at a picture. But he did get the autograph right before I had my picture taken.

Former Florida Lt. Governor (when Jeb Bush was governor) Toni Jennings was there, too. She was very nice.

Yes, the Ron Paul “patriots” were out in force, too. We took a brochure when offered one by a “patriot” who asked how sold we were on Mitt. I replied, “actually, I’m for Fred Thompson.” He seemed genuinely baffled and did not have a response ready. We were walking away anyway.

I LOVE the Ron Paul sign, backwards.
But, I can’t believe Mitt only has just the one wife.
Shrillary was in town a few weeks ago and I boarded up the house and kept a watch all night to keep her from eating my brains.
I was so amused by the Ron Paulers.
Nice to see you dressed for the occasion.
Alexia, actually, I’m pleased I thought to bring that shirt with me when I left for work this morning. Other wise I would have been dressed up and not advertising my little corner of the interweb.
ron paul must win, no one else has supporters as dedicated
Buckwheat, I must admit the Ron Paul people I have encountered have been very — um — zealous.
How unbelievably cool is that!?
I could support Mitt Romney, and I believe he’d trounce any Democrat who runs against him.
(yeah, I still lean towards Fred! though)
Hey, comments come up a lot quicker with your new format.
I wish you had blogged the questions that were asked. Did anything surprise you in the answers?
A teacher asked what Mitt would say to a child who does not wish to excel because they plan to have babies and collect welfare like Mommy. I don’t remember what Mitt’s answer was, but I don’t think he answered it at all, just veered off and told a story about his wife working with underprivileged kids in Boston.
Someone asked about prescription drugs from Canada. Mitt said the trick is getting other countries to recognize our patents and intellectual property rights to stop undermining us.
I cannot remember the other three questions right now, I’ll try to think of them.
I was impressed overall with Mitt. I didn’t know much about him before, but now I will consider voting for him.
I didn’t know all five Ron Paulers were allowed to congregate in one place.
[...] a good service. End Memo. Via IMAO.US (I link because they’re friggin’ hilarious) I found Pereiraville. She went to meet Mitt in Winter Park, Florida. Great pictures – including the picture of all [...]
Who is Ron Paul?
a bit of a nut job running for the republican nomination
