Like a moron, I just closed Excel the program instead of the individual report (I had four reports open, including a brand new report not yet saved). I just lost all that work. IDIOT!

I’m going to lunch. Sherlock suggested today should be a KFC day, since it’s Tuesday and they have Tuesday specials. Who am I to argue?

UPDATED: When I got back from lunch and worked on the report for a while again, can you believe I almost lost it a second time that exact same way? I’m really an idiot today.

does your excel not pop up and ask if you want to save before it closes? when i accidently hit the wrong X, it asks me because it knows i’m a dummy.

of course it asked me, and I clicked yes. Because I was distracted by an unexpected visitor in my office and my rush to close sensitive financial stuff. See, if I know people are coming, I don’t have sensitive financial stuff visible to wandering eyes. And since I had four spread sheets open, and was only closing one of the four, when I assumed Excel asked me if I wanted to exit without saving changes, I said Yes. And everything closed.

    Because I’m an idiot.

You don’t have it auto-save? If you do have it autosave there might be a temp file somewhere you can recover. If you search “Word” on my blog, I think one of my readers said in my comments what to do… if not, he might have done in an email, and it may help you.
