Hey there Kids. In lieu of this week’s edition of the poetry slam, I wanted to tell you guys about something that brings tears to my eyes, and it’s important, so I’ll actually tell you about it:

In case you’re disinclined to watch my quick and dirty video:

The Gallery Collection, a leading mail order publisher of premium quality personalized greeting cards, has joined together with Soldier’s Angels, to send Christmas Cards to each and every soldier. This card will wish them Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year and, most importantly, this card thanks them for serving our country. In addition, a blank card and envelope is being provided to every soldier so that the soldier can write home. Soldier’s Angels, who provide aide and comfort to our men and women of the United States Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, and the Coast Guard and their families, is including the Gallery Collection cards in care packages they are sending out.

I must confess, I have been terribly lax about sending care packages since Peter returned from Afghanistan many months ago. I suppose it’s easier to forget when you do not have a loved one in the line of fire. This is inexcusable. Someone emailed me a week or so ago a chain email suggesting as we address our Christmas cards this year that we send an extra to a service man or woman. I will definitely do that. I will also be dropping some money into the Soldier’s Angels paypal box.
