May 11th, 2008 at 04:52 pm by wRitErsbLock in Mindless MeanderingsI called my mom to wish her a happy mother’s day. She was in the middle of a movie and seemed reluctant to talk to me. She also left me with the impression that she is reluctant to spend time with Jason today. That’s fine. It’s her choice.
Sometimes it makes me sad that my mother and I have such a disconnect. But, it is what it is.
I truly believe my MIL loves (and likes) me more than my mother does.
But what bothered me about the call to my mother was that there was no reciprocal Happy Mother’s Day salutation. You know, because she has a history of pretending my step-daughter does not exist. Therefore, I guess I’m not a mother.
I console myself with a “whatever” and chalk it up to her devotion to a fictional god that clouds her brain.

She called of dinner with us. In a conversation earlier today broadcast through the car stereo via Bluetooth, she announced that she didn’t like my wife’s attitude when her brothers wife was around.
This all goes back to a comment she made a while back that my wife took insult to, and rather than simply apologize and move on, she has made it a point to justify her comments by citing other incidents and people who used the same phrase.
I just think it would be easier to not use that particular phrase rather than try to convince somebody of its validity.
With that being said, my wife has been upset all day, this is Mothers Day #2 that has been miserable.
What a stupid DAY this is, honestly. Go Hallmark, because I think that is the only one who benefits from this STUPID day.
Neither of my step-daughters told me Happy Mother’s Day. I’m not their mother; I know that. Don’t try to be… but then, I didn’t tell them HMD, either.

Pam, really? When I am speaking with my dad’s wife, I always wish her a happy MD. She and I both agree she’s not my step-mother, but she is an important person in my life.
It sucked knowing I wouldn’t call and wish her a HMD since she’s mad at me. Again.
What do you mean again, don’t you mean still!!!
