first impressions
July 8th, 2008 at 11:14 am by wRitErsbLock in UncategorizedOn Thursday, after work, I had to stop at the credit union to deposit my paycheck. I was on my scooter. My credit union (I heart my credit union, BTW) has some rules that must be followed including no cell phone use inside, and I think a no sunglass rule. It’s a one-branch credit union, and all the girls know me. I heart my credit union because it’s so small that I have relationships with each of the employees, and it makes banking personal.
Anyway, when I first bought the scooter, I asked them, as I entered the building, if it would be okay to keep my helmet on for the few minutes I’m in there. See, it’s kind of a PITA to remove the glasses, remove the helmet, replace the glasses… sounds simple, but it’s a PITA to me. They said it is fine for me to wear my helmet. I generally raise the tinted face mask so they can see me better.
Back to Thursday then. I parked my scooter and approached the door. As I was about to enter the security code to gain access, another customer existed the credit union, allowing me to enter without entering the code. I’m certain I thanked her, but can’t recall, so maybe I didn’t. I rushed in, raising my visor as I walked, and proceeded to fill out my deposit slip at the side counter. That’s when I heard one of the teller’s, D, say, “she’s fine.” Followed up with the woman who just exited swooping between me and the teller’s with an emphatic, “oh good, because” ::waving her arms:: “I was not going to let you hurt them without going through me first.” We all laughed. Both tellers and one of the other credit union employees assured that woman that I posed no threat, and the woman left.
Verily, I was amused. Apparently I look threatening in my helmet:

It’s good to know other people appreciate our friendly credit union employees and are leery of when other people sneak in without entering the security code.

Well, that was nice of her… but you look about as threatening as a six week old puppy.
Paranoid much, credit union?? LOL!
pam’s last blog post..Could have, would have.
you’re just saying that because I drooled all over you and chewed up your slippers!
I know what you mean about the glasses and the helmet. When I ride with my husband on his Harley, I wear a full-face helmet. REAL PITA to take on and off with glasses.

I am shocked that you are allowed to break their security rules! Safety is more important than your discomfort on the rear side!
