great parents
July 21st, 2008 at 08:09 am by wRitErsbLock in UncategorizedAlong with Caylee Anthony’s apathetic mother, there have been other great parents in the news this weekend.
A 5-year-old driving a jet ski alone on a Central Florida lake was critically injured when she hit another watercraft and was thrown into a tree, according to the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
FWC officers said Madison McGinnis, of Altamonte Springs, was by herself on a jet ski Sunday on Lake Katherine in Casselberry when she struck the parked personal watercraft.
The parents allowed their FIVE YEAR OLD to drive a jet ski by herself. WTF?
Immediately after that story on the news last night, while we were still yelling at the television over it (because we yell at the news stories), we missed most of this one:
West Palm Beach authorities still don’t know how a boy was left in a hot car as his mother did her nails hours before her wedding. The boy later died at a hospital.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office says that 29-year-old Mirland Baptiste may not have known the boy was in the car. She dropped off other children at a relative’s house Saturday before going to the nail salon.
Mommy was having her manicure for her wedding when she left her son in the car. The television claimed the boy was four years old, but this story doesn’t seem to say (unless I’m missing it, which is always a possibility). Was the boy asleep? Most four year olds I have known are able to raise a ruckus when necessary, like, say, if left in a car unattended. He should have been in a car seat, but at age four, also probably could have unbuckled it. And while the child safety locks may have been enabled, couldn’t he have climbed into the front seat to exit the vehicle?
I just hate stories where the kid dies in a hot car.
I hate stories of bad parents. Why does God give children to the inept? Why doesn’t God give a child to me?

There are several questions with the child in the car. She claims she didn’t know he was there that he must have sneaked back into the car after she dropped the rest of the kids at relatives. This doesn’t sound reasonable. Why didn’t the relatives notice the 4 year old missing. If he sneaked into the car one would assume that he was not buckled and therefore could move around the car. Why didn’t he bang on a window or open the door. Most four year old that I know don’t sit still for long. Lots of questions on this one. Something is not right.
