wanting to expand the zoo

It’s your fault. You sent me the link to Hurricane Hedgehogs. You knew I would fill out the application so that I could be put onto the waiting list for a baby hedgehog. Now they have called me to let me know they have two unclaimed babies: one boy and one girl, both born to mom Mendi, both dark colored. You knew this would happen.
And now, now I’m faced with desperately wanting to shell out $200 for a baby hedgehog that will be ready to be separated from his or her mommy in six weeks.
You know how much you have wanted a hedgehog for all these years, and how rare it is to find them in pet stores, and how adorable they are once they get used to you and put the quills down. And their noses!
Can I reserve one? Huh? Please? Can I? I promise to take care of it! It’s only $50 to reserve it…

I say get the girl! R there pictures?
I left her a voice mail asking if she has pictures or if we can drive out there (Davenport, I think) to see the babies.
She can’t get pictures yet, because they’re so small, and the foster mom (biological mom rejected her four babies) is protective of her brood.
Um… so… I may have said I’m putting a check into the mail to hold my baby girl hedgie…
oh, and until they’re three weeks, she won’t let people visit the babies. The babies were born on July 26th.

I love that within five minutes of talking to her, she updated her website noting that I had claimed a baby.
Man…first you get to see Styx, and now you’re getting a cute little hedgehog. You are living my fantasy life!
