We took RTY to one of her favorite restaurants for dinner: Hu Hot. It’s basically a Mongolian BBQ. You fill a bowl with all the ingredients you want, and then watch them cook it for you. She can always put away three plates of food at this place. Truthfully, sherlock and I love this restaurant, too, but we rarely go. And, we have to make sure we go hungry so we feel like we got our monies worth. Also, after we go, I always feel like I need to go online and read diet pill reviews because I can really pack away the food at Hu Hot. Since it was RTY’s birthday, they gave us a complimentary smores dessert thing, which was rather fun.

Back at home, RTY was very, very anxious to open her presents. She received a couple gift cards (B&N and iTunes), knee-high socks, and the most inane shoes I have ever seen.

Ma really enjoyed watching RTY opening presents.

RTY also received some Domo toys. I don’t get it, but she really thinks Domo is cool. She also received some goth gloves, a book from Think Geek, monkey slippers, lip gloss, a cute camouflage purse, and a camouflage strap for a guitar.

MIL: Why you’d get her a guitar strap?
Sherlock: For the guitar hero guitar.
RTY: Or we could put it on the guitar you guys got a few weeks ago. (did I tell youse guys I bought an acoustic guitar a couple weeks ago?)
Me: Oh, yeah, we could do that, too. Good idea!

After she was done opening her presents, sherlock told her to go into our bedroom and retrieve the guitar hero guitar so he could put the new strap on it. I captured the scream of ecstasy:

Yes, we got her an electric guitar!

She screamed repeatedly.

And strummed away blissfully after sherlock connected her to the amp.

I think she looks like a guitar player, don’t you? We told her we’re willing to get her lessons if she wants to (she does) and if her mother will agree (color me a skeptic).

Those three enjoyed white chocolate pudding pie (blech) after presents (we’re not cake people). All in all, I think RTY had a really good 12th.

At this time, I would like to wish my big brother, Jason, the happiest of birthdays.

I commissioned one of those professional pollster companies to take a poll for me, and it’s official: Philadelphia jobseekers all hope you have a super fantastic birthday, Buddy! The real question is: when I call to assault your ears in a little while, do you want the happy-go-lucky version of Happy Birthday, or the dismal-depressing version? Inquiring mind wants to know!
