So let me get this straight, Florida. You went blue on the Presidential election and voted for Obama. But, you also voted in favor of Amendment 2? Seriously? Does that seem contradictory to anyone else?

My husband was surprised that I voted for McCain and AGAINST Amendment 2. Amendment 2 certainly seemed like an uber-conservative amendment. But newly liberal Florida voted for Amendment 2. WTF Florida?

Shame on you.

Okay kids, I know you all want to know the best place to trade in your “I Voted” sticker for comestibles, so, here’s a list. See also this article for other ideas of how best to trade in your sticker.

If you’re in Nolensville, TN, please consider voting for my older brother, Jason, for Alderman.

We waited in line for forty-five minutes to vote.

The woman who turned in her ballot in front of me was, um, entertaining. It was paper ballots that we then fed into a machine. Well, she fed her ballot in, and an error message popped onto the screen indicating she had voted for more than one selection in at least one category. The machine spit her ballot back out, and I could see she had voted for every candidate except Obama in the Presidential category. I can only assume she wanted to vote for Obama, and somehow thought leaving that one bubble blank would be the way. I assume this because it’s a dumbass move, not being able to figure out how to follow the directions to vote, and since I believe only a dumbass would vote for Obama, well, you see the comparison. The election aid person patiently tried to explain to the woman how to vote for only one bubble in each category and sent her back for a new ballot. I stepped up and said, “don’t worry, I only voted for one candidate.” She laughed and said, “we’re not supposed to judge…” Yeah. But clearly that woman is a moron.

Anyway, my vote has been cast! I voted for McCain/Palin!

When Comrade Obama sets up the re-education camps for those of us who foolishly opposed him in the last great American election, you’ll know why we will be among the first to disappear.

Here is what we have set up so far for our Halloween display. It’s not nearly as scary as it usually is, but our hearts just are not in it this year.

We lost one of our tombstones when it broke, so sherlock made a new one.

This spider is a bit subtle, as it’s hard to see in the dark:

The black light on the front porch illuminates the text on the sign by the door that reads, “Abandon hope ye who enter here.” It also illuminates the cross on the coffin, and some other glowing accents (we went a bit nuts with glow paint last year).

It’s like the Fred we wanted to have as our candidate has been coaching John in how to smack down his opponent. John has had some great zingers tonight. I’m liking my candidate more and more!

And look at the big sh!t eating grin on the big O every time John zings one!

This afternoon, I wasted several hours trying to win VIP seats to tomorrow night’s free Styx concert. My raffle ticket ended in 55. They called 50, 52, 57, 59, but not 55. Jerks. Oh well. That just means I have to stake a claim to my spot downtown at 4p instead of having the luxury of not showing up until much closer to when Styx will actually take the stage around 8p.

When sherlock and RTY finally came to pick me up (I’m not a complete meanie, I didn’t make them wait with me to try to win), we stopped at the Semoran Blvd. GOP headquarters on the way back home. We needed to get a McCain/Palin sign for our front yard. We picked up two signs and also received another bumper sticker. Excellent! We have to counteract the three Messiah signs in our ‘hood. And to help with that, we went ahead and stuck a sign in another neighbor’s yard. It’ll be interesting to see if they notice the sign in their yard before they read about it on here!

There was a very nice gentleman with a booth set up right outside the GOP HQ. He was selling bumper stickers and high-quality tee shirts (not like the cheap ass shirt I’ll get at Styx tomorrow night, based soley on the cheap ass Styx shirt I got at the last concert I went to). His design is really cool:

The front:

The back:

He had both bumper stickers and shirts with those caricatures. I think they’re great! And I know many of my readers will also enjoy them, so I thought I’d pass along the link to his website Space Shirts. Go check it out.

I also like this Halloween shirt.

In the interest of full disclosure, we lamented to him that we did not have cash (because as you know, we never have money) on us. But I told him I really liked his art and would mention it to you, my faithful readers. He thanked me kindly, and gave me a bumper sticker for free. It is proudly displayed on the back of the Element. On the driver’s side is our McCain/Palin sticker, and the passenger’s side is displaying our No’Bama… Yes, Mama!! sticker.

Please check out his site. :)
